Murphy opened the scoreboard with a 23rd-minute goal followed by Tavernier’s successful penalty shot late in the game at minute 92.

Gerrard attracted the spotlight with his first managerial match being a success, but Rangers fans expressed their fondness of the new manager for a different reason.

When the ball passed the touchline, Gerrard’s smooth behind-the-back control made the fans wonder if the 38-year-old could be both player and manager.

The Liverpool icon’s analytical reaction to the win isn’t a surprise as well, Gerrard’s trademark gegenpressing during his playing days echoes today with his commentary on the match.

Gerrard and the Rangers face Aberdeen FC on Aug. 5 as a first phase match for the Scottish Premiership.
