Piotr Zieliński’s incredible volley against Hellas Verona is one of the best of all time

Inter Milan maintained their pursuit of the Serie A title with a hard-fought 2–1 away victory over Hellas Verona, highlighted by a moment of individual brilliance from Piotr Zieliński.

The Polish midfielder opened his 2025–26 league account with what can only be described as one of the finest goals of the season — and, perhaps, one of the most aesthetically pleasing strikes in recent memory.

The moment arrived in the 16th minute when Hakan Çalhanoğlu delivered a precisely weighted, back-spinning corner kick from the left. Zieliński positioned himself on the edge of the 18-yard-box and met the cross with a first-time volley using the inside of his right foot. The replays just make it better and better.

Çalhanoğlu’s link-up with Zieliński off the corner is reminiscent of that between David Beckham and Roberto Carlos at Real Madrid, with even the legendary left-back not being capable of keeping the ball from touching the ground before scoring.

The goal set Inter on their way to an important win, keeping them firmly in contention for the Scudetto. With the result, the Nerazzurri remain in second place on 21 points, just one behind league leaders Napoli.
