Jorge Sánchez Bags First Assist For Ajax In Eredivisie

Jorge Sánchez has slowly gained more minutes on the pitch for Ajax, debuting in the Eredivisie and in the Champions League on Tuesday, but without making any real impact.

This changed on Saturday.

Jorge Sánchez Assist vs. Heerenveen

The fullback opened his goal contribution count in Amsterdam in Ajax’s 5-0 win over Heerenveen in Matchday 6 of the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.

A marvelous Edson Álvarez through ball, a sharp run and pass by Sánchez led to an easy tap-in for Kudus.

An Ajax goal with a taste of Mexico.

Can Sánchez Earn Himself A Spot In Ajax’s Starting XI?

The Mexican’s direct competition is Devynne Rensch, 19-year-old Dutchman who has made five appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist along the way.

Rensch has came up into the Ajax first team after making his way through the academy. The Dutch was the direct academy replacement for Noussair Mazraoui’s departure to Bayern Munich this summer, Ajax’s starting right back last season.

Considering Sánchez arrived while the season was already under way and Rensch was present in the Dutch’s preseason, it’s completely normal for the Mexican to be receiving sporadic minutes on the pitch.

Now, even when these situations are normal, Sánchez will have to speed up his adaption to his new club and make his way into the starting XI if he wants to show up in Qatar in the best form possible.

So far, he’s doing a good job at doing so.
