Monterrey reasserted their dominance on Saturday, beating Club America 2-0, who until this weekend were their closest rival for the top spot in the Liga MX table.
Minutes before the match kicked off, Monterrey officially clinched a spot in the liguilla.
With just two match-weeks left until the playoffs, the only team that can catch Monterrey at the top is Tigres, but it would take something extraordinary for that to happen.
Monterrey have achieved their success using stingy defense, having only allowed nine goals in 14 games.
