We’ve seen our fair share of own goals, but Mickey van der Hart may have exhibited the best (or in his case worst) own goal in history.
Ajax and the Go Ahead Eagles were tied in the 87th minute when Wesley Verhoek's pass back to van der Hart (who is coincidentally on loan to the Eagles from Ajax) simply skipped over his foot after his attempted clearance. It gave Ajax a must needed three points as they are trailing first place PSV Eindhoven by 8 points. The Go Ahead Eagles, on the other hand could of used just a point as they are teetering on the edge of relegation, standing three points in front of the relegation zone in 15th place. It’s okay Mickey, Charlie Brown knows how you feel.
