The SDSU Aztecs are halfway through their 2023 Fall season and the San Diegan university decided to freshen up ahead of the crucial stage of the season with one of the best soccer jerseys we’ve seen this year.

Before playing their first Pac-12 home match last Thursday, the team’s social media decided to celebrate their long-awaited league debut by releasing their black and red home jersey — a jersey with a clear and direct influence from the Aztec calendar.

Beautiful.

This new kit is definitely hard to look at without remembering the iconic Mexico 1998 World Cup jersey — one of the greatest kits of all time.

This front Aztec calendar template was also used on their white away jersey.

Students, alumni and fans across the city have shown interest in buying the new home kit, with people now pleading the university and team on social media to release the jersey for purchase.

Give the people what they want, SDSU.

Meanwhile fans wait for the official release, jersey's with a similar template have been released by the SDSU NIL store, an online store with licensed merch that cuts portions of their revenue to the university's student-athletes. You can customize the jersey with a name and number.

Unfortunately for the Aztecs, the jersey release day was somewhat ruined by their 1-0 loss against the California Golden Bears in their home stadium.

But hey, at least they looked good in defeat.
