Emma Hayes reveals she enjoyed first month with USWNT more than last few years at Chelsea

U.S. women’s national team head coach, Emma Hayes, is having a dream start to her career with the Stars and Stripes, already claiming that she enjoyed her first month in charge of the U.S. more than her last few years with former club Chelsea.

Emma Hayes: “I had more fun with USWNT in one month than last few years at Chelsea”

The USWNT claimed their spot back on the throne of women’s soccer after completing their gold medal objective at the Paris 2024 Olympics, winning the tournament for the first time in 12 years and ‘bouncing-back’ from their devastating early exit in the 2023 World Cup.

Hayes, who took over the U.S. team just one month prior to their opening Olympics match, was able to have a clear impact on the players on and off the pitch with veteran national team captain, Lindsey Horan, having an emotional reaction to Hayes’ praise following their gold medal win against Brazil.

This type of impact from Hayes on the national team squad was also reciprocated by the players onto Hayes, with the former Chelsea manager confessing she had more fun with the United States in one month than in the last few years.

Following the USWNT’s gold medal win, Hayes gave a sincere speech to the squad, showing her appreciation for bringing joy back into her and the whole staff’s hearts during their first month in charge.

“The importance of joy, I know you hear me express it and I mean it, I’ve honestly had more fun in the last month [than I] for sure have had in the last few years [at Chelsea].

“I wanna thank you for that because you brought so much joy back into my heart and on behalf of the whole staff, I think everyone feels the same way,” said Hayes.

Hayes and the U.S. women's national team joined forces at the right place and time.

The English manager’s love story with the USWNT, brewing to be successful, will continue for at least another three years, with the national team’s next objective being the 2027 World Cup.
