Rising USWNT talent Yazmeen Ryan joins Houston Dash for NWSL record trade fee

The Houston Dash acquired two-time NWSL champion forward Yazmeen Ryan from NJ/NY Gotham FC on Friday.

The Dash also received $80,000 in intra-league transfer funds for 2025 in exchange for $400,000 in allocation money and a 2025 international roster slot.

Ryan, 25, was an NWSL Best XI second-team selection in 2024 after collecting five goals and six assists. She has nine goals and 12 assists in 82 career matches in the regular season with the Portland Thorns (2021-22) and Gotham.

"Yazmeen's versatility and unmatched work ethic has led to success at the club level plus an opportunity to showcase her talent on the international stage with the USWNT," Dash interim general manager Erik Ustruck said. "Her addition embodies our ambition to build a winning culture with a strong foundation for years to come. She is thrilled to champion this project and help our team achieve sustained success."

Ryan's teams have won four trophies, including NWSL titles in 2022 and 2023, the 2021 Women's International Champions Cup and the 2021 NWSL Shield.

"I'm thrilled to join the Houston Dash and embark on this ambitious project to elevate the team to unprecedented success," Ryan said. "I've been in this situation before and understand the commitment and sacrifice needed to compete for trophies in the most competitive league in the world. I want to thank club leadership for their belief in my abilities and the responsibility to execute the vision they have for the club."

Internationally, Ryan made her U.S. Women's National Team debut in October and tallied the game-winning assist in a victory over the Netherlands on Dec. 3.
