Let’s see a show of hands: With the U.S. not participating in the World Cup this summer, how many of you are just interested in seeing who wins? OK, that’s about 15 percent of you. Well you’ll probably be asking yourself: When is the World Cup final?

The World Cup begins on June 14 and lasts more than a full month. The group stages run through June 28, with the knockout rounds beginning on June 30. So when is the World Cup final?

The 2018 World Cup final will be played two days later than in 2014, when Germany and Argentina played on July 13. It will be the latest World Cup final since 1994, when Brazil beat Italy in July 17.

The 2018 final will be the fifth latest overall in the history of the tournament, trailing only 1930 (July 30), 1966 (July 30), 1994 (July 17) and 1950 (July 16). The earliest World Cup final ever took place in 1934 on June 10 between Italy and Czechoslovakia.
