After months of speculation that Liverpool was going to acquire RB Leipzig’s star striker Timo Werner, Chelsea has come out of nowhere and snatched the 24-year-old German.
What started as a rumor that Werner was in talks with Chelsea quickly became an official signing with multiple sources confirming that the Blues had met his $62 million release clause on Thursday.

Chelsea has longed for a dangerous striker since the departure of Diego Costa in 2017. Since then, strikers like Alvaro Morata and Gonzalo Higuain have had minimal impact at the club and been cast away. Werner could perhaps be the man for the job. One look at some of the German’s highlights should send fear into most Premier League defenses.
The best news for Werner is Stamford Bridge will be nice and quiet for him when he plays there. He didn’t seem to handle loud volume too well in Turkey when he was asked to be substituted in the first half against Besiktas due to crowd noise. Perhaps Werner turned down Liverpool’s offer due to concern of how loud “You’ll Never Walk Alone” would be on his eardrums. A wise decision on his part.
The Blues attacking force will also be adding Ajax talent Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan has been absolutely tearing up the Eredivisie and Champions League. Chelsea’s keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga might be keen to depart the club with the arrival of Ziyech after suffering one of the most humiliating own goals ever at the hands of the newcomer.
Rumors are still circulating that Chelsea plans to make one more marquee signing before everything is said and done. Leicester City left back Ben Chillwell looks to be on the menu for the West London club.
Chelsea are also pushing to do Ben Chilwell still as the two main marquee signings. Then maybe swaps or loans to supplement the squad at a later date. It makes me think Sancho won't happen though. #CFC

Chelsea has all the talent to be title contenders next season. The question will be if Frank Lampard can manage his team to the top of the table.
