2024 Ballon d’Or odds: Who has the highest chance of taking the award?

The race for the upcoming Ballon d’Or is going to be close.

As anticipation builds for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, the battle for soccer’s most coveted individual award is shaping up to be thrilling. 

After a long 2023-24 campaign, paired with a summer full of international play with the Euros and Copa América, the number of contenders for the award has only increased.

Let's analyze the odds of the leading contenders and their chances of winning this prestigious accolade in September.

The current odds for the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or

Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Phil Foden, Toni Kroos - 2%

These are some of the players that will make up the lower end of the final list, with Kane and Foden being a part of England’s Euro 2024 fun, Kroos retiring with a LaLiga and UEFA Champions League double and Erling Haaland winning back-to-back Premier League Golden Boots.

Kylian Mbappe - 3%

The latest Real Madrid galactic had one of his best individual seasons of his career, scoring 44 goals and providing 10 assists while leading both France and PSG to the semifinal stage of the Euro and Champions League, respectively.

Lionel Messi - 4.8%

The eight-time and current Ballon d’Or winner is projected to squeeze himself into a potential top five. The Argentine put up double digits in both goals and assists in MLS and lead Argentina to yet another trophy in the 2024 Copa America.

Lamine Yamal - 5.3%

The Spanish star boy had a breakout Euro 2024, being the top assister (4) and named as the Best Young Player of the tournament all as a 17-year-old.

Dani Carvajal - 9.1%

Carvajal had one of his best ever seasons at 32 years of age, scoring Real Madrid’s go-ahead goal against Borussia Dortmund in the 2024 Champions League Final and being one of Spain’s best players in Euro 2024

Jude Bellingham - 15.4%

The 20-year-old had an exceptional first season in Madrid, scoring and providing assists, all while completing the double with Real Madrid and arguably being England’s best player at Euro 2024.

Rodri - 34.8%

Rodri has slowly become one of the world’s best whilst at Manchester City, having incredible winning records with both Spain and the Premier League club. The Spaniard was a vital part in City’s Premier League title conquest, as well as named the Best Player of Euro 2024.

Vinicius Jr. - 42.1%

Vinicius Jr had an amazing season with Real Madrid, providing goal contributions across all competitions, topped off by his goal in the Champions League final against Dortmund. Despite a lackluster finish with Brazil in the Copa America, the Brazilian is still comfortably ‘in the lead’ to win the French award.
