MUST WATCH: Georgia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili makes whopping 11 SAVES vs. Czechia

Georgia and Czechia shared points in their second match of Euro 2024 this Saturday following another exciting 90 minutes from both national teams in Group F, with Georgia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili having the best goalkeeping performance of the tournament so far.

Giorgi Mamardashvili makes historic 11 saves in Georgia-Czechia

23-year-old Mamardashvili saved Georgia from becoming the latest national team to officially be eliminated from the Euros after making a whopping 11 saves, with the keeper completing eight saves in just the second half.

This generational performance from the CF Valencia man began with three impressive saves in the first three minutes of the game, foreshadowing the keeper’s eventual Man of the Match Award worthy performance. Mamardashvili’s 11 saves are the most by a goalkeeper in Euro 2024.

Mamardashvili has now tallied 16 saves in two games.

The Georgian’s incredible efforts pushed Georgia into the privilege taking the lead just before the second half via a penalty kick, with striker Georges Mikautadze burying his shot from the spot.

Mamardashvili’s shot-stopping dynamics continued to haunt the opposition into the second half but was not enough to contain a very persistent Czechia, eager to score the equalizer.

In the 59th minute, a rebound from a shot hit off the post landed on star player Patrik Schick, with the Bayer Leverkusen player only having to push the ball into the net to bring everything level.

Georgia were given a golden opportunity to score a dramatic late-winner off of a counter attack, but shot their chance over the bar.

Both teams will have to win in the last match day in order to advance to the next round, with Georgia facing Portugal and Czechia facing Turkey.
