Paul Pogba Bought His France Teammates World Cup Championship Rings And They're Stunning

In the past, championship rings haven’t really been a big deal in soccer. While Super Bowl and NBA champions flaunt flashy finger paraphernalia, soccer has traditionally been more about the team prizes such as the Jules Rimet Trophy and old Big Ears. But these France World Cup rings could change that.

France won the 2018 World Cup last summer and as a token of gratification, Manchester United star Paul Pogba bought all of his Les Bleus teammates championship rings.

Those France World Cup rings have now been unveiled, and they are nothing short of gorgeous.

Designed by Jason of Beverly Hills — because no one does unnecessarily gaudy bling better than Americans — the France World Cup rings are pretty close to a design posted to social media by Antoine Griezmann back in July.

These trinkets are, to our knowledge, the first of their kind for a World Cup title. They aren’t unique to soccer, however. Recently Atlanta United gave its players MLS Cup championship rings and even allowed fans the opportunity to buy one for $10,000.

Paul Pogba spoke at a news conference on Wednesday ahead of France’s two Euro 2020 qualifiers this weekend, but he didn’t mention how much they cost him.

“It’s a small gesture after winning a World Cup with great players,” Pogba said. “I consider them my family. It’s a small gift from me.

“A small gesture like that is nothing because a World Cup is for life. This ring you can lose, but the World Cup you do not lose that.”

Really lovely stuff from Pogba, who was huge in midfield for Les Bleus during the World Cup.

France plays at Moldova on Friday and host Iceland on Monday to kick off Euro 2020 qualifying.

Hopefully Didier Deschamps’ men will be able to pry these France World Cup rings off their fingers before the matches, though I wouldn’t blame any of the players for trying to keep these beauties on for the rest of their lives.
