Argentina to allow away fans to attend league games for first time in 12 years

BUENOS AIRES — Argentine football clubs can now welcome away supporters after a 12-year ban, the Argentine Football Association said on Thursday.

The ban, imposed in 2013 following violent incidents, including the death of a spectator, has now been lifted as part of a staged reintroduction ahead of the next round of fixtures in the current league campaign.

June 12 (Reuters) - Boca Juniors defender Ayrton Costa will miss the Club World Cup after being denied a visa to enter the United States due to a criminal complaint against him in his native Argentina, the club confirmed on Thursday.

In 2023, Costa accepted a probationary sentence to avoid trial for an aggravated robbery in 2018, which U.S. officials ruled that he is still serving.
