Samantha Kerr's Dream to Play A Different Kind Of Footy

Every little girl that participates in soccer at a young age dreams of playing on her national team or professionally. Except Australian native Samantha Kerr.

Growing up in Perth, Australia, Kerr broke gender barriers by playing a sport that was predominately male. She refers to it as footy, but that is just the outback way of saying rugby. Playing a so-called male sport is difficult for any female, but Kerr went unnoticed as a girl by her boy teammates and once they discovered she was not the same as them they cried.

VAR Officially Approved For Women’s World Cup In Rare Show Of Common Sense From FIFA

It’s rare we get to do this, so let’s take a moment today to celebrate FIFA for having some common sense. Football’s world governing body confirmed the use of video assistant referees at this summer’s Women’s World Cup. The Women's World Cup VAR decision was made Friday, a month after FIFA trialed the technology with referees at the Al Kass Cup, a youth club competition. 

This will be the first time VAR is in use for a Women’s World Cup.

USWNT Files Gender Discrimination Lawsuit Against U.S. Soccer

A lawsuit filed on Friday accuses the United States Soccer Federation of “institutionalized gender discrimination.” The suit seeks back pay, damages and other relief, which could total millions of dollars.
