Racist fans throw a banana at Richarlison — Brazil responds by torching Tunisia with five goals

Racism in soccer reared its ugly head on Tuesday during a friendly game between Brazil and Tunisia when fans of the African nation threw a banana at Richarlison while he celebrated a goal.

Fans Throw Banana At Richarlison

"Unfortunately, after this action, a banana was thrown on the lawn toward Richarlison, scorer of the second Brazilian goal. CBF reinforces its position to combat racism and repudiates any prejudiced manifestation." read the Brazil national team's tweet.

This kind of racist abuse has no place in the sport and is disgusting. The game between Brazil and Tunisia was played at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

Brazilian players have had brutal run-ins with racism lately with this Richarlison incident being the latest one. Before the friendly the Brazil players held a banner that read, “Without our black players, we wouldn’t have stars on our shirts.”

The banner was a response to Real Madrid and Brazil ace Vinícius Júnior suffering racist abuse from Atlético Madrid fans and Spanish agent Pedro Bravo with both parties referring to him as a monkey.

Tuesday’s game got off to a flying start with Raphinha scoring the opener in the 11th minute and then Tunisia tied it in the 18th.

Richarlison immediately put Brazil back in front in the 19th minute which is when the banana was thrown at him.

Brazil responded to the banana throwing with a massive middle finger in the form of three more goals to demolish Tunisia 5-1.
