Cristiano Ronaldo And Lionel Messi Pay Homage To Mexico Earthquake Victims

On his Twitter account, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself holding an autographed Real Madrid jersey dedicated to Santiago Flores Mora, a six-year-old boy who died when his school collapsed during the quake.

The image was a response to a letter sent to Ronaldo by Santiago’s mother. In that document, she expressed how much admiration the child had for the Portuguese player, whom he considered a major inspiration.

In the image, the Spanish text reads: “In this moment of pain, I send Santiago’s family and all the families that have lost their loved ones a huge hug.”

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has also posted a video on Twitter expressing his solidarity and sending his best wishes to 8-year-old Leonardo Farías, another boy who attended the same school and was trapped in rubble.

His mother asked that Liga MX and European footballers send their best to her son, saying he is capable of hearing and would be greatly motivated by his idols’ messages.

Among other players having answered the call are the likes of Oribe Peralta, Miguel Layún, Dani Alves and Luis Suárez.
