Dani Alves Had A Mexican Night On Twitter And Seems Ready To Join Pumas In Liga MX

If Dani Alves doesn't sign for Liga MX side Pumas, he is a very, very evil and mischievous being.

The Brazilian international has been linked to the club for several weeks and last night, he himself teased fans by turning his Twitter and Instagram accounts into a clear signal that he's almost for sure heading to México.

On Twitter, he first posted an image of his wife Joana Sanz — the same who scared Pumas fans a few days ago — next to a picture of famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo plus the caption "una señal" (a signal) and a sticking-out-tongue emoji.

The post evolved into a dialogue with TNT Mexico, in which Alves asked for a very special bottle of tequila Don Julio 1942 to reveal if he's coming to Pumas or not.

At the same time, Alves posted a video on Instagram dressed as mariachi and singing "El Rey" ("The King"), one of the biggest hits in the musical genre. At the end of the clip, he shouts a classic "Viva México, cabrones."

All We Know About Dani Alves To Pumas

Putting all the Dani Alves banter aside, several reports are saying the deal is done. After being released from Barcelona, the Brazilian is set to join Pumas for free in a contract that'll last one year and in which Alves will receive $3 million in exchange.

The same reports explain that Alves took some time deciding on the move because he wanted to talk first with the Brazilian national team coach, Tite, to discuss how the transfer could affect his chances of going to the World Cup. When Tite gave him the thumbs up, the 39-year-old Alves discarded the other card he had on the table (Athletico Paranaense) to join Pumas.

Why Mexico? In the past, Alves has expressed several times his admiration for the culture of the country — the food, the drinks. He even shared his gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics Games with all the people of Mexico.

Alves also has a lot of friends there, with the Dos Santos brothers (Giovanni and Jonathan) among them. Jona even welcomed him in Mexico after the friendly he played between América and Manchester City.

"Is it already done? Pues bievenido güey, pinche popó," he said. "It's a joy to have him with us in the league. We will have a better league with a legend like him playing there. He is also a really good friend and I love him very much. He will be in Mexico City and I'm happy because we are going to be able to share more moments together".

Dani Alves should be arriving in Mexico next Saturday. It's not clear when he'll be ready to play, but wouldn't it be weird to see him in a Pumas kit for the first time against Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Aug. 7?
