Watch: Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario gets away with blatant handball outside of box

The Guglielmo Vicario handball vs. Brentford shocked fans as the Italian goalkeeper got away with one of the crazier acts we’ve seen on Saturday.

During Tottenham’s 3-1 victory, Vicario evaded the law with a wild sequence early in the second half.

Spurs were holding onto a 2-1 lead when a dangerous cross was whipped toward the top of Vicario’s penalty area. The 27-year-old leapt to claim the ball but made a mess of things.

Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard was poised to take advantage of the opportunity, but then Vicario pulled off an incredible, and illegal, juggling act.

Vicario handball

Vicario evaded any punishment as center referee John Brooks didn’t make a call and VAR didn’t intervene.

Today we learned that goalkeepers can touch the ball wherever they want so long as the referee doesn’t see it. Incredible.

Brentford had secured an early lead scoring in the first minute of play for a second week in-a-row.

Tottenham responded with goals from Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and James Maddison to take the three points.

Brentford fans must be wondering how different the outcome would’ve been had Vicario been sent off for his handball.
