USMNT’s Tyler Adams suffers major injury setback after just one game with Bournemouth

United States men’s national team star defensive midfielder Tyler Adams is set to be out for an extended period following an injury setback to his hamstring. The Tyler Adams injury update from Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola was worst case scenario.

“I don’t know what to call it, a setback, but he is not feeling well,” Iraola said. “It is true that he is going to be out for some time, for sure. I think it’s the same area. I couldn’t tell you if it’s exactly the same point, but it’s true that it’s his hamstring.”

Tyler Adams injury setback

Adams suffered a major hamstring injury in March that required surgery while he was with Leeds United. After being sidelined for six months and making a transfer to Bournemouth, he finally made his debut for the Cherries on Wednesday in the EFL Cup.

It’s unclear if his hamstring setback occurred during his 20-minute cameo of Wednesday’s game, but he was left out of the squad for Saturday’s EPL match vs. Arsenal.

This latest injury will surely keep him out of the next USMNT camp and be a massive concern. Iraola didn’t put a clear timeline on when Adams could return but it won’t be anytime soon.

The last time Adams made an appearance for the USMNT was the Round of 16 defeat to the Netherlands in the World Cup.
