Finally, the weekend’s action was highlighted by second place the Chicago Red Stars picking up three points at home against a surging Sky Blue FC.

NWSL Goal of the Week Nominees

Carli Lloyd (Houston Dash) with a long distance effort, and her first of the season.

Madison Tiernan (Sky Blue FC) puts away a header sent in from the corner.

Vanessa DiBernardo (Chicago Red Stars) wins a battle past midfield and slots away a top corner strike.

Francisco Ordega (Washington Spirit) had the Portland Thorns defense turned around in a great solo effort.

Winner: Three great options this week that could take home the honors. While Lloyd’s returning goal will likely win it, DiBernardo’s recovery of the ball, dribble and shot should take home the prize.

Jane Campbell (Houston Dash) tips a header from Marta onto the crossbar to prevent the goal.

Steph Catley (Orlando Pride) the defender gets in on the action, saving her keeper as she clears the ball off the line after a chip shot.

Nicole Barnhart (FC Kansas City) stops Megan Rapinoe with a one on one kick save.

Kailen Sheridan (Sky Blue FC) long distance shot for the upper right corner is parried away, although the crossbar may have done the work as well.

Winner: Jane Campbell’s leap required a quick reaction and full reach to stop Marta, as the Dash upset the Pride.
