USMNT’s Matt Turner has signed with Premier League’s Crystal Palace after weeks of negotiations and rumors surrounding the American goalkeeper’s departure from Nottingham Forest. Turner joins The Eagles on a one-year loan with no buy option, according to reports.
Palace suffered the last-minute loss of backup goalkeeper Sam Johnstone who joined Wolves, with Turner coming in as a ‘Deadline Day’-weekend signing.
The 30-year-old will join U.S. men’s national team defender, Chris Richards, in the hopes of winning some minutes as a second-choice goalkeeper.
This transfer comes after weeks — and perhaps the whole summer — of Nottingham Forest reportedly refusing to let Turner leave on loan, looking to say goodbye to the U.S. keeper on a permanent transfer.
Turner played a total of 21 games in his one-year stint with Nottingham Forest, conceding 31 goals and keeping only three clean sheets.
