He Wore A Cowboy Hat And Scored 14 Goals. A Co-Ed League Banned Him For Having Fun

I haven’t played co-ed soccer since high school gym class. What I remember from it involves a lot of social and competitive awkwardness. I may or may not have been the kid that couldn’t figure out when it was “OK” to try hard in gym class and when you were an a**hole for doing so. I figured this out later in life, but clearly this Mr. Garruto got it from the get go. Which is incredibly ironic, because this Garruto guy got kicked out of a co-ed league.

Check out the email Mr. Garruto received from the North Side Co Ed Soccer League notifying him that, “unfortunately,” they were banning him from the U17/U18 league for “behavior.”

kicked out of a co-ed league

OK, like I said before, clearly this kid gets it. He might be an asshole, but I choose to see him as a happy-go-lucky kind of guy that was just having more fun than everyone else.

Case in point: “waring cowboy hat during game” is followed by “scoring 14 goals with 3 goals limit per player.” First of all, if you have a three goal limit per player, your league is not to be taken seriously, your league is to be played in while wearing a cowboy hat, or while eating a banana.

The management at the North Side Co Ed Soccer League clearly couldn’t handle Mr. Garruto, but maybe that was their first mistake. Mr. Garruto isn’t meant to be handled, he’s meant to be set free.
