Cesc Fàbregas' 95-Year-Old Great-Grandmother Overcomes Coronavirus

The coronavirus is proving to be stubborn as the world fights to return to normalcy, but it turns out there's one thing stronger than COVID-19 — Cesc Fàbregas' 95-year-old great-grandmother. The Monaco midfielder tweeted out his thanks to all the doctors and nurses who helped her recover on Wednesday.

“She has overcome coronavirus at 95 years of age. Yesterday the test came out negative! My great-grandmother is a super heroine but none of this would have been possible had it not been for the help of the nurses and doctors who are giving their lives at each moment so that we can all be better and live a little better during these difficult times,” Fàbregas wrote.

Earlier this month, Fàbregas said that 70 percent of the people in his great-grandmother’s nursing home in Barcelona had been infected with the virus. Several weeks later, she has tested negative and is recovering.

Fàbregas is also doing his best to help Monaco stay afloat during the crisis. The former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea man took a 30 percent monthly pay cut and is using his own money to help pay Monaco staff who've been furloughed. He's also deferring his salary for the next four months.

Cleary bad-assery runs in the family.
