Liga MX, LaLiga or Premier League? — Brandon Vázquez linked to a transfer in the January window

Brandon Vázquez’s goalscoring habits in Major League Soccer over the past couple seasons have made waves across the U.S., into USMNT rosters and now over international waters with clubs around the world looking to sign the striker. His transfer out of Cincinnati is only a matter of time.

Liga MX, LaLiga or the Premier League? Brandon Vázquez January transfer rumor

Let the bidding begin.

Since the conclusion to the 2023 MLS Season and the approaching aperture of the January transfer window, one of the constant names from the league in the transfer rumor space has been Brandon Vázquez.

The 25-year-old FC Cincinnati and USMNT player has been linked to a number of teams and transfers for the upcoming window, with teams in Mexico, Spain and England all reportedly interested in the striker’s services.

Reports have placed the former Atlanta United striker under the radar of Spanish side CF Cadiz and Premier League’s Brentford — who is said to have already started negotiations for the player. According to sources close to his team, this would be Vazquez’s preferred and most desired option.

“This career is short and one of my goals has been to go to Europe... I want to go to make the 2026 World Cup roster, I think I have to be overseas competition with the best leagues in the world” said Vázquez in October.

However, reports have also placed the Mexican-American under the radar of Liga MX’s CF Monterrey, a club that has been linked with the player in the last couple of windows and who are in ‘desperate need’ of a striker for the upcoming Mexican Clausura 2024 tournament.

Vázquez has previous experience playing in the Liga MX with Club Tijuana, where he was able to make his professional debut.

Vázquez scored eight goals and provided two assists in 29 games in the 2023 MLS Season for FC Cincinnati, an effort following an extraordinary 2022 season where he finished with 20 goals in 35 games across all competitions.
