American Phenom Jordan Morris Scores Brace Against EPL Club

Jordan Morris is enjoying the finest form of his professional career to date. On Saturday, July 2nd, Morris scored a highlight reel equalizer against Toronto FC in MLS regular season action. It was the American striker’s sixth goal in 16 games in his rookie season.

Three days later, Morris took a spot on the bench during Seattle’s friendly match against English Premier League side West Ham United. Morris entered the action in the second half against the club that finished seventh in the EPL last year.

It didn’t take long for the 21-year-old to make a big impact. In the 70th minute, Morris pounced on a rebound in the box to poke the ball into the net.

Just one minute later, Morris scored with a sublime finish after a fantastic run through on goal.

The omission of Morris from the USMNT's 2016 Copa America Centenario squad was one of the biggest talking points of the announcement. Instead of taking Morris, Klinsmann elected to take the 33-year-old Chris Wondolowski. We all know how that panned out against Argentina.

Morris can almost certainly expect to be recalled for the USA’s final two round 4 World Cup qualifying matches. The USA plays Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on September 2nd and Trinidad and Tobago on September 6th.
