Wesley Fofana cleans out steward who then accidentally kicks other steward in face

Chelsea did the unthinkable on Saturday and actually won a game. The Blues defeated Leeds United 1-0 with center back Wesley Fofana scoring the game’s lone goal.

Fofana had another highlight — or lowlight in this case — during the game when he took out a steward on the sideline after receiving a shove from Leeds forward Wilfried Gnoto.

In the 80th minute a chaotic scene took place with Fofana sliding into one of the Chelsea stewards on the Stamford Bridge sideline. The woman looked like she had just been hit with a brutal slide tackle and careened toward the ground. While she was falling one of her feet accidentally kicked another steward in the face.

Madness!

Chelsea steward takes a tumble

Ouch!

The moment with the steward fit the tone of a sloppy affair with both sides not looking their best. Fofana’s first Chelsea Premier League goal in the 53rd minute proved to be decisive. The French center back outjumped USMNT midfielder Weston McKennie on a corner kick to give the Blues the lead.

McKennie, Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson all started together but failed to make much of an impact. Aaronson was repeatedly muscled off the ball and eventually hooked in the 68th minute. Adams had the best game out of the three Americans and nearly scored a beautiful curling goal.

We also got to see Adams hit his quota of getting into at least one shoving match per game.

USMNT fans were hoping that Christian Pulisic was going to make an appearance for Chelsea after he’s returned to training. The American forward has been recovering from a knee injury he suffered in January.

Alas Pulisic wasn’t named in Saturday’s squad and the return of Captain America will have to wait a little longer.
