USWNT Faces Australia At Stomping Grounds Of Pugh, Horan In Colorado

The U.S. women’s national team have been nothing but busy thus far in 2019. From being one step closer to equal pay, to being ranked No. 1 heading into the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the USWNT is proving its worth through its dominance both on and off the field.

The red, white and blue will be shown off again on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT when Lindsey Horan and Mal Pugh get to represent their home state of Colorado versus No. 6 Australia.

Since 1987, the U.S has a record of 25-1-3 against Australia. The last three occasions these two countries faced each other resulted in a U.S. 3-1 win in the 2015 World Cup, an Australian win in the 2017 Tournament of Nations and most recently the two World Cup-bound teams tied 1-1 July 29, 2018, when Lindsey Horan scored an equalizer to keep U.S. alive in the 2018 Tournament of Nations, where they went on to win the tournament title after defeating Brazil.

Despite their recent back-and-forth competitive matchups, the two favored World Cup winners will have a rematch this week in a friendly to set the tone for the road to France.

The USWNT will be playing four games after Australia to fully prepare for its eighth consecutive World Cup appearance, as well as working to defend its World Cup title.
