Christian Pulisic reportedly chosen by AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli as new official penalty taker

Captain America will be in charge of the penalties at the San Siro.

It has been reported on Friday that Christian Pulisic has been chosen as the new official penalty taker for AC Milan by manager Stefano Pioli. The decision has reportedly been caused by the club’s inaccuracy from the spot in recent matches and, with Pioli eager to fix the situation, Pulisic has been chosen as the new man in charge of penalties.

Pulisic, who has arguably been Milan’s best player this season — tallying six goals and five assists in 20 games — has impressed the Italian boss after just his first six months since signing for the club in July.

“Everyone can think and say what they want, but [Pulisic] is a great player, he's scoring a lot and for a winger it's not a given, then he's a fantastic guy, I'm keeping him close,” said Pioli in December.

The 25-year-old American is no stranger to being the man in charge of taking penalties and has been the undisputed penalty taker for the USMNT since scoring his first goal from the spot against Cuba in 2019.

Since that goal against Cuba in the Concacaf Nations League, the Hershey-born has managed to score all seven of his attempts from the penalty spot for the national team, establishing himself as an expert penalty taker at the international stage.

Down the middle, bottom corner, upper 90, you name it. Puli can do it all.

Pulisic’s new role will into effect in AC Milan’s upcoming away Serie A match against Frosinone on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. EST, a match the Rossoneri will use to continue their outstanding league form.
