Christian Pulisic played his first game in nearly a month and marked his return with a goal from the penalty spot in AC Milan’s 2-1 Italian Super Cup semifinal victory vs. Juventus. Moments after Pulisic scored his fellow U.S. teammate Yunus Musah forced an own goal to give Milan the lead.
Friday’s semifinal was the first game in charge for Milan’s new manager Sérgio Conceicão. He has his two American players to thank for a memorable victory.
With roughly 20 minutes to go and Milan trailing 1-0, Pulisic provided the Rossoneri with a lifeline after drawing a penalty. Earlier this season there was drama when Pulisic’s Milan teammates didn’t allow him to take a penalty despite him being the designated taker.
On Friday he went for power and just managed to beat Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Pulisic is now 11 for 11 from the penalty spot in his career.
Four minutes later Musah would help create the winning goal when his cross took an insane deflection off Federico Gatti and crept into the goal.

Unfortunately, it will be chalked down as an own goal, but we’re absolutely counting that one for Musah.
The 22-year-old came on as a substitute in the 54th minute and gave Milan a boost that will surely please the new manager.
Pulisic and Musah weren’t the only USMNT players on the pitch as Timothy Weah made a late appearance for Juventus and Weston McKennie started at left back.
McKennie was tasked with marking Pulisic and did a decent job keeping him quiet until the penalty kick. The Juventus midfielder was teasing Pulisic at one point with a clever sombrero move in the second half to evade him.
