USL Super League announces it will stream all games of new U.S. women’s league on Peacock

The USL Super League is set to begin on Aug. 17 and announced on Thursday that all the inaugural season — 115 games including the playoffs — will be streamed on Peacock. The multi-year agreement is part of a larger deal between NBCUniversal and USL which will see other leagues like USL League Two on the men’s side find a streaming home.

Thursday’s media deal announcement is another key steppingstone as the new professional women’s league rapidly approaches its maiden season.

USL Super League Peacock announcement

The USL Super League was granted Division 1 status by U.S. Soccer earlier this year meaning the new women’s league will be on the same level as the NWSL. How the two leagues coexist will be interesting to see.

The USL Super League’s deal with Peacock is already a step in a different direction than the NWSL as the new league will have all the games on one platform. NWSL games are spread out among ESPN, CBS, Amazon and Scripps.

USL Super League president Amanda Vandervort said the deal with Peacock will provide fans tuning in with the best experience possible.

"We are thrilled to partner with NBCUniversal and Peacock to provide a world-class viewing experience for USL Super League fans across the country. NBC Sports and Peacock have raised the bar for soccer coverage in the United States, and their commitment to the USL Super League is a testament to what we are building,” Vandervort said.

Eight teams will compete in the first season that runs from August until May with a break in December. The first half of the season, the Fall Schedule, will see each side play 14 games.

The eight teams include Brooklyn FC, Carolina Ascent FC, Dallas Trinity FC, DC Power FC, Fort Lauderdale United FC, Lexington SC, Spokane Zephyr FC and Tampa Bay Sun FC. More cities are expected to join the league in the coming years.

Teams have already begun announcing players like Brooklyn FC who signed Puerto Rican national team goalkeeper Sydney Martinez as the first to join the club.

To keep track of the new faces in the USL Super League a player signing tracker has been made available.
