USMNT favorites to beat Uruguay, sports books say

The U.S men’s national team could have a better chance of beating Uruguay on Monday than most people believe… at least that’s what sports books say.

The USMNT will go into the last match day of the 2024 Copa América looking to get a huge win against none other than Uruguay — one of the tournament’s top contenders and best in-form national teams so far in the group stage.

This, considering the high-stakes of the match and the quality of the squad the United States will have to defeat, would undoubtedly become the biggest win in Gregg Berhalter’s tenure with the USMNT. Here are all the scenarios that see the United States go through to the knockout rounds.

Though, even when a victory against the 15-time Copa América champions seems like a large feat, sports books feel the USMNT actually have a better chance of beating the South Americans than the other way around.

USMNT slight favorites to defeat Uruguay in Copa América

For multiple sports books around the country, the United States are the slight favorite to take the victory on Monday.

The money line odds for the USMNT to win against Uruguay are currently +150, with the draw at +230 and Uruguay’s victory at +185.

Will Uruguay play their substitutes against the USMNT?

The USMNT might have hit the jackpot by playing Uruguay in the last match day.

Uruguay, who are coming into the third and last game of the Copa America group stage with six points and a goal difference that makes it nearly impossible for either the United States or Panama to surpass, are practically through to the next round.

Now, considering they are most likely going to finish as the leaders of Group C, manager Marcelo Bielsa might resort to playing an alternate squad, looking to give his starting XI players some rest ahead of their quarterfinal tie — potentially a huge factor in the odds for the USMNT.

They will play either Colombia or Brazil in the next round — matchups that entail having your squad with a full 90 minutes-worth of stamina.

Days leading up to the highly-anticipated match on Monday will tell if Uruguay will, in fact, play their substitutes. Or if the sports books really just have a lot of faith in the United States.
