Two wonderful Phil Foden goals crown Manchester City as Premier League champions

Manchester City were crowned the 2023/24 Premier League champions after a dominating 3-1 victory against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Phil Foden goals vs. West Ham

Not even two minutes into the start of the match, Premier League Player of the Season Phil Foden picked up the ball in the outskirts of the 18-yard-box and hit an absolute rocket to put Man City ahead.

Despite the early goal, City did not lift their foot off the gas pedal, with a precise cross from Jérémy Doku into Foden doubling the hosts’ lead just 15 minutes later.

It was not looking good for West Ham.

However, after a plethora of missed chances from the Citizens, a set piece opportunity for Hammers from a corner lifted all lost hope for Arsenal fans wishing for a West Ham comeback.

Mohammed Kudus goal vs. Manchester City

A series of rebounds inside the box coming from the corner kick, followed by a high touch from Mohammed Kudus, set the Ghana international up to score what is perhaps the goal of the match day. What a bicycle kick.

This sent the match into a frenzy at half time, with a potential West Ham equalizer in the second half and an Arsenal win on the other end, snatching the Citizens’ title away.

City were finding trouble getting a clear chance at goal when the match resumed, with many shot attempts drifting wide from Alphonse Areola's goal.

The momentary defensive lock from the Hammers was broken in the 59th minute when Rodri received the ball at the edge of the box and hit a low curling shot to double City’s lead once again. The Spanish midfielder, who scored the Citizens’ only goal in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final win, was giving his club a title once again.

This is Manchester City's fourth Premier League title conquest in-a-row, with manager Pep Guardiola leading the Sky Blues to six league titles in the last seven years.
