The Man Who Wrote "Goal!" Is Pitching A New Movie About Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy is Santiago Munez. Santiago Munez is Jamie Vardy. They are one and the same.

Vardy's story has understandably drawn comparisons to the plot of the movie "Goal!" And now, the writer of that same movie is apparently pitching a project about Vardy's life. It should be deja vu if the writer actually gets the Vardy movie made.

For the uninitiated: in the movie "Goal!" Santiago Munez is a down on his luck Mexican immigrant living in Los Angeles where he works as a landscaper in his dad's business and as a cook in a Chinese food restaurant and plays a little soccer on the side. He happens to have a very good game that is seen by a vacationing English scout, who gets him a tryout at Newcastle.

After some ups and downs he succeeds at Newcastle, marries the hot club nurse (who happens to be the sister of one of his fellow players) and eventually moves to Real Madrid and becmoes a global superstar.

Vardy seems to be in the midst of a similar story, having worked in a factory while playing non-league football then rising to score in 11 games in a row in the Premier League. Now if Real Madrid would just buy him...

Supposedly, Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson and Andrew Garfield have been mentioned for the Vardy part. We'll see, but we think Samuel L. Jackson should be involved somewhere.
