The tragic romance of our time took another compelling twist this past weekend as Shakira potentially found her rebound from last year's dramatic split with Gerard Piqué. Throughout Sunday's Miami Grand Prix, Shakira was spotted hanging out with Tom Cruise. Gossip rags are now saying the Last Samurai is going to pursue her like a scene out of Mission: Impossible; he's already sent flowers.
Piqué, age 36, is dating 24-year-old Clara Chia Marti — the woman Shakira's referenced and dragged lyrically while saving her best shots for Piqué and his infidelity.
On Saturday, Shakira was at Billboard's Latin Women in Music Gala, accepting the award for Woman of the Year, and delivered this pointed message concerning her ex: "There comes a time in the life of every woman where she no longer depends on someone else to love and accept herself just as she is. A time when the search for someone else is replaced by the search for oneself. A time when the desire to be perfect is replaced by the desire to be authentic, and where finding someone who is faithful is less important than being faithful to ourselves."
Shakira and Piqué only officially split last June, but Clara Chia Marti had been spotted in the background of one of his Zoom calls back in 2021. That event had reportedly left Shakira "devastated to learn that this woman clearly felt at home in the house they shared with their children."
Shakira, age 46, now lives in Miami with both of their two sons, Milan (10) and Sasha (8). Is there room for Cruise (age 60 but unchanged in appearance since 1983) in her life?

Cruise has previously been married to Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, but he's been a bachelor since 2012.
The universe is now bringing together the artist behind "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" and the actor behind 2001's Vanilla Sky (a hugely underrated film, give it a watch tonight).
There's another reason why Cruise is a potentially a perfect rebound: he supports Atlético Madrid.
