Here’s how and when to watch USWNT vs. Brazil in the Concacaf W Gold Cup final

The United States women’s national team will play for a trophy on Sunday vs. Brazil in the Concacaf W Gold Cup final. For those wondering how to watch USA vs Brazil Gold Cup game, this article is here to help.

How to watch USA vs Brazil Gold Cup final

  • When: Sunday, 8:15 p.m. ET
  • Where: SnapDragon Stadium, San Diego, California
  • How to watch: Paramount+, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes

Here’s some background on the game.

What is the Concacaf W Gold Cup?

If Sunday’s game will be your first time watching the Gold Cup, let us explain what this tournament is. This is the first-ever edition of the tournament for women’s national teams.

Every two years the Concacaf Gold Cup is held for the best men’s national teams in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

This year the women are playing in a version of the Gold Cup featuring eight teams from Concacaf (North/Central America and the Caribbean) and four guest teams from CONMEBOL (South America).

How did Brazil/USWNT get to the final?

Brazil

In the group stage Brazil won all three of their games without getting scored on once. The tournament got off to a bit of a slow start with 1-0 wins vs. Puerto Rico and Colombia, but they have hit their stride.

In the knockout stages Brazil beat rival Argentina 5-1 and then took down high-flying Mexico 3-0 in the semifinal. This Brazilian side is firing on all cylinders and will pose a major challenge for the USWNT.

Everyone has been getting in on the fun and scoring for Brazil with 11 different players responsible for the team’s 15 goals. Oh yeah, and Brazil have only been scored on once.

USA

The Concacaf W Gold Cup hasn’t been a showing of dominance from the USWNT but one of resilience and grit. The USWNT demolished Dominican Republic (5-0) and Argentina (4-0) to start the tournament but then got hit with a brutal reality check from Mexico in the form of a 2-0 loss.

All eyes were on the Americans to see how they would respond to such a shocking defeat on home soil. They responded with one of the best games they’ve played in years in a gritty 3-0 victory vs. Colombia in the quarterfinal and then survived a scare from Canada in the semifinal.

The game against Canada was basically played on a swimming pool and the USWNT prevailed on penalty kicks.

Jaedyn Shaw has been one of the biggest breakout stars for the USWNT during the tournament. The 19-year-old leads the team with four goals and started/scored in both knockout stage games.

The two top sides will meet on Sunday to determine the best team in the Americas and lift the first-ever Concacaf W Gold Cup.
