The Argentina international has once again wrapped himself in controversy. This time, he’s been ‘outed’ to have separated from his wife whom he shares two young children for a shocking reason.
Report: Enzo Fernández 'separates from wife and kids to live single-life he missed out on during youth'
According to reports, Chelsea FC midfielder, Enzo Fernández, has separated from his partner of over six years after telling her "he needs to experience the stage he skipped out on by choosing to start a family early on."
Enzo Fernández is going through a separation with Valentina Cervantes. According to @juliargen, "He told her he wants to live life on his own. They’re still family, but he feels the need to experience the stage he skipped by choosing family early on.’” pic.twitter.com/fzTT6ifnt9

His now former partner, Valentina Cervantes, confirmed their separation on Instagram, saying that the pair will always be family.
“Enzo and I have decided to take some distance from each other today. But we will always be family, and we will support each other in everything. Because there are two children involved who need a lot of love from us,” she said via an Instagram story.
“I know the person Enzo is and what an excellent father he is, as well as the heart he has. And that is enough for me. Please don't try to create conflicts where there are none,” she added.

This has ultimately sent a wave of backlash toward Fernández, with fans criticizing the Argentine’s decision (and apparent reasoning) to separate from his wife and two children.
I feel bad for her and their kids, immature and stupid decision by Enzo

He basically wants to sleep around with hookers and live a "teenage" life

He feels he needs to experience the stage he skipped by choosing family early on. What stage is that please? If he knows he wasn’t ready then why do it?

This most-recent controversy only adds onto Fernández's nightmare-season on and off the pitch, with the 23-year-old also facing backlash in the beginning of the campaign for singing a tendentious chant surrounding the France national team following Argentina’s 2024 Copa America win.
Fast-forward to months later, Fernández’s starter role at Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca has began to get questioned, with the Argentine being dropped from the starting XI in a handful of games across the current 2024-25 season.
Maresca: "I still trust Enzo Fernandez, there's no reason I can lose confidence on him. He's gonna play many games for sure".
"The reason he isn't playing in the Premier League is because I made a different decision. My confidence is 100% with Enzo". pic.twitter.com/1B5HnHKi6t— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) November 1, 2024
Fernández completed a $120 million transfer to Chelsea from Benfica in 2023.
