Tracking The Number Of COVID-19 Cases Per Football League Around The World

The number of COVID-19 cases per football league is a question on everyone’s mind these days. The ebb and flow of the virus around the world has left our leagues in different states of recovery.

Here we’ve made a list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league and the number of COVID-19 cases in their respective regions of the world.

The list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league comes in no particular order, but we will save the best for last, so be ready.

COVID-19 Cases Per Football League

Premier League

Up first on the list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league is the Premier League. As of the July 5, round of testing, there were zero new cases within the league. In all there have been 18 cases.

The Premier Leagues region, the UK, has recorded 287,000 total cases since the start of the pandemic. But, the UK is seeing an overall downward trend in cases.

LaLiga

Next up on the list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league is LaLiga. LaLiga has not been very forthcoming in sharing their case numbers.

The last update on the league showed eight positive cases in May. But there hasn’t been any more current updates since.

Spain overall has recorded over 250,000 total cases and is also on the downward trend.

Bundesliga

The list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league continues with Bundesliga — the league that shattered the return-to-play timeline.

Bundesliga was the first of Europe’s major leagues to return to the pitch back on May 16. At its height, the league reported 10 positive cases on May 4.

Germany as a whole has reported nearly 200,000 cases. The country is also seeing a decline in cases.

Serie A

Onward and upward on the list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league is Serie A. This is another league with few current updates. As far as we know, Serie A at its height recorded 20 cases among players, including Juventus star Paulo Dybala.

Serie A’s region, Italy, has over 240,000 total cases. Once again this European country is on the decline for new cases.

Ligue 1

Our list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league continues next with French Ligue 1. As recently as July 6, the league recorded one new positive case, with three other clubs confirming positive tests prior.

France as a whole has a recorded nearly 170,000 total coronavirus cases.

Liga MX

Moving on on the list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league, we have Liga MX. The last update on the number of cases was back on June 14, totaling up to 35 positive cases.

Mexico overall is seeing an opposite outcome than Europe in its total cases. Cases are at 268,000 total and still climbing.

NWSL

We’re almost done with this list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league. Next up is the National Women’s Soccer League.

The most recent update on cases within the league occurred with the Orlando Pride squad. They recorded 10 total cases and had to withdraw from the Challenge Cup.

The NWSL dealt with that quickly and efficiently and has not seen an outbreak like that since.

MLS

We close out this list of the number of COVID-19 cases per football league with MLS. The MLS restart is underway, which is causing some controversy because of the surge in cases.

As of July 7, the league has recorded 18 positive cases within the bubble — and the tournament is just starting.

The NWSL and MLS are both within the United States, which isn’t looking pretty in its coronavirus containment. The U.S. has hit over 3 million total cases and is continuing to break records every single day with daily new cases.

So while other countries and leagues are containing the virus and reviving the beautiful game, the U.S. is doing what it does best: ignoring what everyone else says.
