Barcelona-Manchester United Match Stunningly Turns Into Real Madrid-Manchester City

Fans showed up en masse at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, to watch Barcelona play Manchester United on Wednesday night. What they saw on the pitch looked more like Manchester City against Real Madrid.

One team in light blue played against another in white.

In the end, the team in light blue (Manchester City, we presume), beat the team in white (Real Madrid?) 1-0.

City’s awesome little Argentine, Sergio Aguero, was off the mark all night. Usually magnificent with his right foot, Aguero for some reason kept trying to use solely his left foot like he thought he was Lionel Messi or something, with few of his shots and passes coming off.

But Gabriel Jesus broke through with a goal in the 31st minute when the Brazilian did his best Neymar impression, doing a pirouette before firing home after a miscue from the Madrid defense.

In the second half, Manchester City made a complete line change while Madrid subbed out half of its team. Play-by-play man Jon Champion described the PA’s call of the subs as more like a bingo call than a substitution, really the highlight of the match.

The subs took their turns taking long-range shots but none really troubled the goalkeepers and the match finished 1-0. Cristiano Ronaldo was nowhere to be seen all night.

Wait, what? I’m being told Manchester City and Real Madrid were to play two hours after this match ended in Los Angeles. Then what the hell did I just watch?
