Indian Super League Free Kick From Way Out Arrives Like A Bolt From The Blue

While you've been up to god knows what sort of merrymaking over the past 10 days, the Indian Super League has been providing us with the best goals of the New Year. If you haven't seen either yet, prepare to fall in love with the sweet feet of Jamshedpur's Greg Stewart and Kerala Blasters' Adrián Luna.

The first one is actually from Dec. 26, when Stewart's Jamshedpur drew 1-1 with Kerala Blasters. Stewart, a 31-year-old Scottish attacker who's previously played for Birmingham City and Rangers, hit a sensational free kick in the 14th minute from a spot that probably has an xG of about 0.01.

The goalkeeper rightfully thought Stewart would provide some service into the area, because beating him required a venomous, bending strike that cannoned in off the inside of the post.

Stewart has five goals and four assists in nine games this season.

The second goal again involves Kerala Blasters, but they were doing the scoring this time against FC Goa on Jan. 2. Adrián Luna, a 29-year-old Uruguayan attacker who previously played for Veracruz, scored from a similar position but during open play.

Luna took possession out wide and walloped a looping effort that was constantly bending away from the keeper before cracking in off the inside of the far post. Two incredible strikes with plenty of action on them.

Luna has two goals and four assists in nine games.

Mumbai City leads the 11-team Indian Super League table with 16 points from nine matches. Kerala Blasters is in third with 14 and Jamshedpur sixth with 13.
