Sergio Aguero Is Undoubtedly The Greatest EPL Striker Of All-Time

When most people think of the great Premier League strikers, names like Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney spring to mind. But, Sergio Aguero is better than all of them. Yes, the speedy little Argentine is the GOAT of Premier League goal scorers.

OK, so he might not be at the top of the goal scoring list. In fact, he's only just broken into the Premier League all-time top ten. His hat-trick against Huddersfield nudged him past Dutchman Robin van Persie, with Aguero now sitting on 146 goals in the EPL.

Why am I talking about Aguero being the greatest striker when he's in 10th place? One word: ratio.

While Aguero's scored 146 goals, they've been scored in 208 games. That leaves him with a ratio of 0.70 goals per game. The player closest to that ratio mark was Arsenal’s deadly striker, Thierry Henry. The Frenchman scored 175 goals in 258 games to rack up a ratio of 0.68.

Somewhat surprisingly, Aguero has only found himself in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season once, which was last year, during Manchester City’s record-breaking campaign.

Considering that Aguero has often found himself on the sidelines with multiple injuries, this is no mean feat. To be precise, transfermarkt.com says that he's missed a total of 54 games due to injuries.

At 30 years of age, Aguero has a number of good years left in him. He's cracked the 20-goal mark in each of the past four seasons, and if he achieves that feat yet again this season, he will find himself in sixth place on the all-time Premier League goalscoring list.

If the Argentine can continue his scintillating form for the remainder of the season, and somehow stay free from injury, who knows how many goals he will bury. Pep Guardiola will be hoping his star striker can continue to rifle his shots into the back of the net, but the rest of the all-time Premier League goal scorers will be hoping for the complete opposite.
