Aubameyang Leaks Speed Stats To Let You Know He's The Fastest At Arsenal

Footballers using social media is a blessing and a curse that keeps on giving. Thanks to some questionable use of Instagram stories by Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, fans received some insider info on who the tourtoises and the hares are at the London club. According to a leaderboard listing the team’s fastest players based on the categories of “Max Speed” and “% Max Speed,” the Gabon striker is the speediest Gunner of them all.

Aubameyang was no doubt feeling rather proud of himself for his first-place finish and could not pass up an opportunity to troll some of his teammates. In a post today, the snap called out new signing Matteo Guendouzi with a caption that, translated, reads: "How are you 93 percent? You can still make progress."

More than a couple of household names appear on this rather intriguing list. Hector Bellerin has often been considered the fastest player at the club but his 9.63 score at 97 percent max speed was not good enough to topple Aubameyang’s score.

While those top two are known for their pace, Unai Emery’s new center back Sokratis Papastathopoulos raises a few eyebrows and certainly deserves a round of applause for his performance. The 30-year-old finished ahead of other established speedsters such as Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck.

Mesut Ozil critics might have expected the oft-labeled “lazy” midfielder to have finished last, but that honor goes to £22 million signing Lucas Torreira. Yikes.

Disclosing Arsenal speed stats for the world to see is one way to get the competition going, in which case Aubameyang may have just given a whole new meaning to the term “Instagram Influencer.”
