The internet is full of cats. Cat videos, cat pics, cat GIFs, cat emojis. Personally, I don’t believe you can have too many cats. Case in point: this ridiculously adorable new Club Léon mascot.
While most Liga MX fans may have been gearing up for the first leg of the 2018 Apertura final on Thursday, which finished in a 0-0 draw between Cruz Azul and Club América, Club Léon unveiled its latest signing, perhaps the best offseason move of the year (in my opinion, at least).
We present to you Sambu, who is a baby lion, for obvious reasons.
Tan contentos estamos con el nacimiento de los tres leones en el @zooleon, que uno de ellos está en casa. Aquí se los presentamos: pic.twitter.com/npZ5qZ83Jo

So cute!
This lion kitten was born at the local Léon zoo recently. To celebrate the recent signing of midfielder Rubens Sambueza from Toluca, the club named the cutie Sambu.
Sambueza said he’s excited about joining the team but mostly just wants to meet Sambu.

As a cat lover, it’s hard not to fall in love with this new Club Léon mascot, especially the corny Lion King pose they put him in with the not-as-cute humanoid lion mascot.

Let’s hope little Sambu leads Léon to glory in the 2019 Clausura.
And the rest of Liga MX (and MLS) clubs need to step up their game.
