Another year, another FIFA game where it’s obvious EA Sports paid no attention to women’s soccer. The FIFA 22 women's ratings are somehow even worse than last year, once again proving the WoSo portion of the franchise is merely lip service to try to appease women without actually putting in any effort.

The FIFA 22 ratings are being revealed ahead of the game’s release on Oct. 1, providing us with some largely agreeable rankings mixed with Alexis Sánchez still ruling the world. 

It’s an unenviable task that usually ends with Thomas Müller being as effective as a wind-tossed plastic bag and Shakhtar Donetsk playing like ’82 Brazil, but maybe this is the year it all comes together.  

FIFA 22 announced the full list of squads available in the latest edition of the world’s preeminent soccer video game. Sadly, EA Sports has once again failed to put any real effort into the women’s portion of the game, which remains a sad little diversion instead of a meaningful game mode.

If you were tired of playing regular soccer on FIFA, this is your year. With numerous new outside-the-box game modes, gather anyone who can play because it looks to be absolutely nutty.

Some eyebrows were raised in the soccer video game community last month when Konami announced some major changes to its Pro Evolution Soccer franchise.

Not only was the franchise renamed to eFootball, but the base version will also be released for free. As time goes on, Konami will then release paid modules that provide access to other game modes — all of which will feature cross-play on its available platforms

Earlier this year, I swore off FIFA Ultimate Team. I became sick with the meta of FUT and the feeling of being cheated by the game. But just when I thought I was out, they’re pulling me right back in.

On Friday, Clint Dempsey dropped this little video, announcing he’ll be a part of the FUT Heroes lineup available in FIFA 22 at launch. I will 100 percent buy a game just to play as a fisherman who moonlights as the greatest male soccer player Texas has ever produced. 

I’d never happily admit to spending $560 on FIFA, but that’s basically what I’d be doing if I decided to purchase FIFA 22 on its Oct. 1 release date.
