English football is known for oddly named teams: Nottingham Forest, Accrington Stanley, Leyton Orient. Yet even with these curious labels, there is one commonality between these clubs — they are named after neighborhoods or towns. 

In fact, only one EFL side is not named after a place — League One side Port Vale, whose title represents the valley of ports on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

But one club seems to reject all logic with its name: Crystal Palace. London has a region known as Crystal Palace, but the title is only as old as the football club itself. 

We often see players awarded small trophies or plaques for their top-tier performances as the best player of a soccer match.

The first "big six" meeting of the Premier League season couldn't have been scripted any better Sunday afternoon with Chelsea and Tottenham playing to a riotous 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in a match that featured two bangers, a 90+6' equalizer, a bench-clearing scuffle and red cards for both managers.

The buzz around Forest's first season back in the English top flight since 1998-99 has centered on the club's summer expenditure of $113 million, and after a disjointed opening day defeat away to Newcastle, Steve Cooper's new additions were the heroes in front of their home supporters today.

In May a BBC headline accidentally ran on live television that stated, “Manchester United are rubbish.” Three months later that headline couldn’t be any truer as Brentford demolished the Red Devils 4-0 Saturday at Gtech Community Stadium.
