FIFA announces that Club World Cup winner will receive $125 million

MANCHESTER — The winners of this year's 32-team Club World Cup to be held in the U.S. will earn up to $125 million, FIFA said on Wednesday.

World soccer's governing body had announced earlier this month a total prize pot of $1 billion for the June 14-July 13 event, significant in the current climate of financial regulation for clubs.

Women's World Sevens series to debut in May with $5 million prize money

An international women's sevens soccer series is set to launch before the Women's Champions League final in May with a $5 million prize pool per edition, organizers said on Thursday.

"World Sevens Football" was co-founded by Jennifer Mackesy, co-owner of the American NWSL club Gotham FC and the WSL's Chelsea. The Guardian reported there is a commitment to invest $100 million in the series over a five-year period.

FIFA reveals that latest transfer window was most expensive winter window in history

Clubs worldwide spent a record $2.35 billion on international transfers in men's soccer in the January window, nearly a 58% increase from last year, world soccer's governing body FIFA said in a study published on Friday.

According to FIFA's International Transfer Snapshot, the amount is also 47.1% higher than the previous record set in January 2023 when there was a total outlay of $1.57 billion.
