La historia del Atlético de Madrid esta temporada se parece cada vez más a la de un grupo de jóvenes cuyas vacaciones en una casa frente al lago se transforman en una película de terror. Al principio, todo bien, alegría y un camino al título que iba a destinado a convertirse en la experiencia de sus vidas. Sin embargo, a medio camino las cosas comenzaron a torcerse. La ventaja de la que alguna vez gozaron se evaporó y hoy los monstruos, Barcelona y Real Madrid, le respiran en la nuca.

After stumbling into the international break on the back of Champions League elimination and a nine-game league run that had yielded only four wins, four draws and one defeat, all eyes were on LaLiga leader Atlético Madrid on Sunday as the club navigated a difficult away trip to fourth-place Sevilla.

After seeing its lead at the top of the table reduced because of a goalless draw with Getafe and following that up with a Champions League elimination at the hands of Chelsea, Atlético Madrid entered Sunday’s LaLiga match against Alavés in a precarious position.

Atlético Madrid's Luis Suárez fired in two goals as they thrashed Cádiz 4-2 away in an action-packed game on Sunday to march 10 points clear at the top of LaLiga.

Suarez gave Atléti the lead in the 28th minute with a curling free kick which was cancelled out by Cádiz forward Álvaro Negredo seven minutes later before Saúl Ñíguez restored the visitors' advantage moments before the break.

Atlético Madrid overcame a spectacular opening goal from Valencia’s Uroš Račić to win 3-1 at the Wanda on Sunday, putting Diego Simeone’s side seven points clear of second-place Real Madrid with a match still in hand.

After Račić’s incredible opener, João Félix brought Atlético level before halftime and then Luis Suárez and Ángel Correa did the business in the second 45 to secure all three points ahead of next weekend’s trip to Cádiz.
