Fluminense goalkeeper Fabio overtook Englishman Peter Shilton's longstanding record for the most competitive appearances in men's soccer, playing his 1,391st match during his side's 2-0 victory over America de Cali on Tuesday, his club said.

The 44-year-old Brazilian has enjoyed a professional career spanning 28 years, with senior appearances for Uniao Bandeirante (30 matches), Vasco da Gama (150), Cruzeiro (976) and Fluminense (235).

U.S. men's national team goalkeeper Matt Turner is returning to the New England Revolution on loan from French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais.

Turner, the 2021 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, recorded 22 clean sheets in 102 MLS starts for the Revolution from 2018-22. He was also named an MLS All-Star and made the MLS Best XI in 2021.
