Anders Dreyer scored a brace and CJ dos Santos recorded three saves for his first career clean sheet as visiting San Diego FC stunned defending MLS champ LA Galaxy 2-0 on Sunday in the season-opening match for both teams in Carson, California.

It began as a celebration for both teams — the inaugural match in club history for expansion San Diego as well as the unveiling of the Galaxy's championship banner for their league-record sixth title earned in 2024.

Clubs worldwide spent a record $2.35 billion on international transfers in men's soccer in the January window, nearly a 58% increase from last year, world soccer's governing body FIFA said in a study published on Friday.

According to FIFA's International Transfer Snapshot, the amount is also 47.1% higher than the previous record set in January 2023 when there was a total outlay of $1.57 billion.

Inter Miami is almost confirmed to be one of 11 MLS teams not participating in the 2025 U.S. Open Cup, as the tournament will only feature 16 MLS clubs, Inter Miami insider reporter José Armando reports.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored career goals 918 and 919 on Tuesday during Al Nassr’s 3-1 victory vs. Al Khaleej in the Saudi Pro League as he chases the dream of becoming the first player in history to record 1,000 official goals.

Tuesday’s game was his 92nd for Al Nassr since he debuted for the Saudi giants in January 2023. His brace on Tuesday brings his total goal contributions (goals + assists) for Al Nassr to 101.
