Weston McKennie Continues Incredible Form With Assist For Paulo Dybala

Weston McKennie has forced his way into Juventus’ starting 11 for the foreseeable future with a hugely impressive eight-day period that culminated with another league assist during Sunday’s 3-1 win over Genoa.

McKennie had to make due with a substitute’s role throughout much of November, but his game-winning goal off the bench against Torino on Dec. 5 was rewarded with a start against Barcelona on Dec. 8. The 22-year-old hit a wonder goal in that one, so he again got the start on Sunday — his first in Serie A since Nov. 1.

Juve dominated the match, but the opening goal didn’t arrive until the 57th minute after Matthijs de Ligt picked out McKennie on the right. The Texan was aware of Paulo Dybala’s position and immediately sent him through on goal with a flicked header. The Argentine did the rest.

Genoa equalized through Stefano Sturaro, but a pair of Cristiano Ronaldo penalties for clear fouls on Juan Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata gave Juve all three points.

The Old Lady moves up to fourth, three points behind Milan although the Rossoneri maintain a game in hand (to be played against Parma later in the day).
